Welcome to The Art of Control Pilates Studio in Stamford, Connecticut. I’m Simona Cipriani, owner of The Art of Control Pilates Studio and Educational Director of The Art and Science of Contrology Pilates Instructor Training.
We are thrilled to announce that we have received our new Archive Reformer by Gratz Industries! I would like to take this opportunity to go over the differences between the Archive Reformer versus other Gratz Reformers we have at the studio. To "Test Drive" the Gratz Archive Reformer, you can book your visit by calling (203) 973 7262 or visit our website at www.artofcontrol.com.
Let's go over the noticeable differences when performing the basic reformer sequence.

Shoulder Blocks
I love the shorter shoulder blocks. They ‘embrace’ your shoulder in a different way when you laid down. Even on Stomach Massage hands back, was for some of my clients with tight shoulders a difference, because the hands are placed a little lower, so they did not sink that fast into their shoulders.
Padding
The thinner and harder foam on the carriage is so much better, at least for me. I have a small scoliosis, now I feel much better how my back is laid down on the carriage. Short Spine massage is one of those exercises where I feel a huge difference when articulating down. Plus it has the same effect if you take off the padding off the footbar. You feel better connected with the Reformer.
Straps/Loops
The O-ring on the straps are pretty smart – it happens that sometimes the handle and strap would not rotate freely, and that doesn’t happen anymore. And the 80” Reformer length and the shorter leather straps help in the rowing series and I feel so much better connected.
Gear Position
The deeper gear position seems to be safer when you change the gear.

What are some of the differences in the Gratz Archive Reformer from the standard?
The Gratz Archive Reformer has a firmer, more dense foam. The firmer foam, provides the right amount of support for the different body parts. It allows the spine to find its place and in turn gives the lower back the feeling of being opened.
The shoulder blocks have a lower profile. This allows more space for the heel to work in and under the shoulder rest when need be. It also allows the heel to work in and over the shoulder block (as in knee stretches) and is more accommodating to various types of feet. The blocks compliment the shoulder alignment (as in snake/twist or stomach massage). The lower profile block also endorses our new strap attachment, allowing the strap (as in frogs/circles and short spine) to mimic the same angles used in mat work.
Feedback On Our New Gratz Archive Reformer
"I love the archive reformer--I actually ask to use it. It's been a few weeks since I've used it last but here are a few recollections. I've noticed some clear differences that I find add value to my practice. - Jessica Gilbert, Instructor at Real Pilates |

My Body, My World
Written by Jennifer DeLuca

Relationships are tricky. Friendships, courtships, co-working relationships all require thought and energy if you want them to go well. Recently, I had an epiphany that I am in a relationship with my body, and I am slacking. My schedule is a bunch of half-assed attempts to maybe get a class in. This in not a relationship that I feel good about.
What kind of relationship do you have with your body? Are you committed and kind? Are you abusive? Think about how you treat your friends, lovers, spouses, kids or your pets. Are you as good to your body as you are to them? Are you as good to your body as you are to the guy behind the counter at the deli? You might take your kids, partner or dog out to do something that will be fun, inspiring, challenging or motivating. Do you do that for your body?!
