Joe’s Springs and Cuing on the Cadillac with Elaine Ewing
This workshop is designed to give you a deeper understanding of how Joe used his springs as well as how you can use his original exercises and cuing on the Cadillac to develop a more in-depth exploration of this apparatus as Joe intended it to be used. In this workshop we will learn a selection of Joe’s original exercises on the Cadillac along with his hands on cuing for these exercises. We will also practice teaching and doing the original exercises on 3 of Joe’s different airplane boards, Use springs replicated from Joe’s Original Cadillac springs to experience the feeling Joe intended for his exercises. A discussion on Joe’s original Cadillac and how it compares it to the classical Cadillac we have today. See how the Developmental Sequence and Joe’s work on the Cadillac correlate and help you understand the system better as a teacher as well as in your own practice.

Developmental Sequence and Pilates with Sean Gallagher
Joe Pilates states numerous times in his writings that he looked at people and animals to help develop his method of body conditioning. In the 1940’s and 1950’s the physical therapy profession started to do the same process of looking at how humans learn to move in an effort to develop methods to facilitate and help those who were injured, had delayed development as infants or had a stroke or other neurological impairment. The developmental sequence was analyzed and integrated into certain therapy protocols especially for working with infants.

Barrels Backbend Inversion With Juan Estrada
Joseph Pilates designed and created several types of arched structures referred to as barrels. The most frequently used are the High Barrel (or Ladder Barrel), Spine Corrector, and Baby Barrel.

At the beginner level clients will be challenged on the Baby or small Barrel, with a slightly raised pelvis, a lengthening into spinal extension, and deepening of the action of both the abdominal musculature and gluteus.

Progressing to the Spine Corrector, with more extension bringing the spine into additional extension and challenging the full body muscular system.

Finally the Ladder Barrel, with its wooden ladder structure for additional standing and inverted exercises, including handstands and the full split progression from Tree in the Short Box series.

Come explore spinal extension, alignment, strength, and flexibility with Juan Estrada, Real Pilates Lead Trainer.
