"In the business and working with clients, the key ingredients in focus are: safety, results and quality.
Gratz pilates equipment meet those standards. Joseph Pilates made it. Gratz built it. We use it."
- Elizabeth Tornland, Owner & Instructor
The vision is to bring the real pilates to Scandinavia, present apparatus to a market not aware of the existence of such and the success is a fact! Sportspilates was founded in 2007, but in 2011 Sweden Sportspilates Inc. moved into Svettishuset (The house of Sweat), built in 1910 for health promotive training in Uppsala, Sweden.
The studio has hosted workshops and seminars with Peter Fiasca, MeJo Wiggin, Mari Winsor and hope to be able to serve as a platform in the Gratz pilates community and its many talented teachers. It is first of all a Pilates Studio, but so many people showed up with serious injuries it made sense to hire a physical therapist to join the team. And a good Swedish massage is a wonderful addition to a hard pilates workout.
Team Sweden Sportspilates consist of pilates teachers, physical therapist, sports scientist, massage therapist and athletic trainers. And our friendly faces at the front desk. Teamwork is an essential element at the studio.
The owner Elizabeth, is the former dancer who went to Uppsala University, earned a degree of Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education, and specialized in stabilization training, injury prevention and sports medicine. She has worked extensively with sports at different levels and was for several years part of the team at the Sports Injury Centre in Uppsala. Pilates of course being the main focus of her pratice. From the beginning she was focused on modern pilates, but went over to the traditional method in 2007, just simply because the results were better, and she has been studying for Fredrik Prag, Elizabeth Prag, Peter Fiasca, Jay Grimes, Mari Winsor, Mejo Wiggin, Alycea Ungaro, Michael Johnson, Kathi Ross Nash, Brett Howard, Chris Robinson, Michael Fritzke and Ton Voogt and Dan Agre´n.
Why do we use Gratz Equipment? The choice to purchase Gratz equipment for the studio was a simple choice and a match between Swedish traditional functional training and traditional pilates. In the business and working with clients, the key ingredients in focus are: safety, results and quality. Gratz pilates equipment meet those standards. Joseph Pilates made it. Gratz built it. We use it.
