About Alexandra Adams
Alexandra Adams is a third generation teacher of Joseph H. Pilates. She has practiced Pilates for twenty-five years and has been a Pilates teacher for almost two decades. Alexandra graduated from Goucher College in 2003, with a Bachelor’s Degree with Distinction in Dance Performance and Choreography. It was here that she was first exposed to traditional Pilates from Joe’s protege, Romana Kryzanoswka. After dancing professionally and continuing her study of traditional Pilates from Romana and second generation instructors, she completed the rigorous, comprehensive Excel Pilates Teacher Training Program in 2004.
In 2008, Alexandra completed The Master’s Program at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, the first program to offer an advanced course of study to Pilates professionals. At the time, Alexandra was one of ten instructors worldwide to complete the program.
In 2010, she opened her first studio, now Excel Pilates Northern Virginia. Most recently in 2022, Alexandra completed the Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training Program with renowned teacher, Kathryn Ross-Nash. Alexandra and her teaching staff enjoy providing the highest quality Pilates instruction to residents of the Washington DC metro area.
