“Everyone who walks through our doors will get to experience the look
and feel of Pilates and the Gratz equipment that enables one to find a deeper connection to their core.”
Brenda Freeman,
Detroit Pilates
STUDIO
Detroit Pilates is located in the heart of downtown Detroit. Detroit Pilates opened its doors in December 2014 in a city currently known for its revitalization and rebirth. We are a tough group that knows what it takes to rebuild and refocus and come together to create a withstanding community. This is the very reason why we wanted to build our Pilates studio in the heart of Detroit. The grit and work of Pilates is the spirit of Detroit.
We are a studio that is dedicated to offering authentic Pilates in the form of Private sessions and small group training. Everyone who walks through our doors will get to experience the look and feel of Pilates and the Gratz equipment that enables one to find a deeper connection to their core.
PEOPLE
Brenda Freeman
Brenda Freeman has been teaching Pilates since 2004 and is currently a 3rd generation Authentic Pilates Instructor. Brenda began her teacher training in 2004 with Jennifer Kries, in 2010 with Brett Howard of The USPA and is currently training with Chris Robinson of S6 Fitness. Brenda is dedicated to her pursuit of the lifelong learning and training of the Classical Pilates method.
Brenda discovered the ‘art’ of Pilates in 2000 after her first son was born via Cesarean section. Pilates helped her redevelop her core strength and heal from her own surgery in order to be strong enough to have a VBAC for her second birth. Besides loving and teaching Pilates, Brenda is a Graduate of CMU with a bachelor’s degree in Art Education.
Megan Fuller
Megan graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor of fine arts in theater performance. It was in a movement class that Megan was first introduced to Pilates. In this class, Megan learned the foundations of Pilates and grew a deeper appreciation for the maintenance of mobility and overall wellness achieved through movement. Through studying, practicing and teaching Pilates she has gained a newfound respect for the process, always reminding her clients as well as herself that Pilates is a journey and not a destination. Megan's approach to teaching is both receptive and challenging as she guides you through your own journey.
Jen McNeely
Jen had her first experience with Pilates at a young age, and she was hooked! She decided to become an instructor, teaching in her hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Pilates has always struck a chord and helped to enhance Jen's overall health and wellbeing. She believes in working "from the inside out" to strengthen the body and improve overall wellness. Her attention to precise, fluid instruction helps guide her clients toward their goals and gives them strategies for living well inside their bodies.
For the last couple of years Jen has been led to pursue a path as a healer and share her ability to help others heal themselves. She is a certificated Reiki practitioner and feels Pilates and Reiki are a great marriage for total wellness. Jen's comprehensive certification is through Balanced Body and Stott methods. Jen also holds certifications through Power Plate, TRX, Reiki healing, Anatomy Trains and Foam Roller techniques.
Lynn Hannon
Lynn Hannon is a certified Pilates instructor who received her training through Balanced Body. Lynn loves the way Pilates makes her feel, as it lengthens and strengthens your core and whole body. Lynn received her certification to become a Pilates instructor in 2011. She has also been a therapeutic massage therapist for over 10 years and she incorporates her background of health and fitness in designing workouts that focus on strengthening the core as it relates to body alignment and injury prevention. She is convinced that Pilates is the key to maintaining strength, balance, and grace as we age. Lynn’s philosophy is – The body can heal itself if you invest time in the process of healing and repairing. She also brings a fresh perspective, new insight and offers feedback to help her students and peers.
EQUIPMENT
We choose to fully equip the studio with Gratz apparatus so our clients can experience the work and feel of Pilates the way Joseph Pilates intended it to be. The substantial nature and the industrial essence of the equipment fits the aesthetic vibe of the city we are located in. We wanted our clients to have the absolute best the Pilates industry has to offer, that’s why we chose Gratz.
