Watch, listen, learn and enjoy a session from a Power Pilates Teacher Trainer. Observe her/him in action, bringing years of experience and knowledge into the studio.

Advanced Mat Class with Stephanie West
Come and experience the challenge of an Advanced Power Pilates Mat class! The focus is on the transitions that will advance your ability to direct "minimum of movement for maximum of flow." Come prepared to move.
Prerequisite: Open to all Instructors and Clients

Real Men Do Pilates with Stephanie West
This workshop will help instructors work more effectively with a growing client base, male clients. Common patterns of muscular imbalance and weakness among men will be addressed, as well as specific ways to improve them. You will also learn techniques that will assist men in integrating key concepts of strength, stability, stretch and stamina into a well-balanced and challenging workout.
Prerequisite: Open to instructors and clients with mat and apparatus experience

All Barrel Review (Small barrel, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel) with Jordana Herman
During this workshop you will learn/review the Technique of all exercises on the Barrels (Small Barrel, Spine Corrector and Ladder Barrel). The focus of the exercises will be the Set-Up and Action-only for all exercises. Staying "horizontal" with the exercises (Set-up and Action-only) will ensure proper movement safely and effectively.
Prerequisite: Open to instructors and Intermediate/Advanced level clients

Two Hours with a Pilates Elder: Lessons from Mary Bowen with Mary Bowen
Spend two hours getting to know Mary Bowen - our most senior Pilates Elder still teaching who studied with Joe and Clara themselves. The workshop is broken into two sections. The first two hours will be on the evolution of Mary Bowen's Pilates, especially since she turned 70. The second two hours will focus on Mary's specialty, PILATES PLUS PSYCHE: The Application of Jungian Typology to the Teaching and Practice of Pilates - to help both the teacher and the client.
Prerequisite: Open to all instructors and clients

Advanced Mat Class Review (Transitions and Flow) with Jordana Herman
his workshop will take you through the classical technique and proper teaching tools for an Advanced Level Mat class. Refine your knowledge of the exercises, develop new and more efficient cues, and learn how to take your client to the next level with efficient flow and transitions from one exercise to the next. Kick it up a notch and give your advanced client a more well rounded and challenging workout on the mat.
Prerequisite: Instructors and clients with advanced mat experience

Intermediate Reformer Review with Variations with Stephanie West
This workshop is ideal for instructors and strong intermediate level clientele who want to review the exercises, transitions and variations of the intermediate reformer. We will focus on optimal technique, as well as the progressions to the advanced level.
Prerequisite: Instructors and clients with intermediate level reformer experience

Time: 4:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
Pilates Refined, After 58 Years of Living It with Mary Bowen
An introduction to Mary Bowen and how she works and thinks about Pilates after 58 years living it and 42 years and ongoing teaching it. Learn how she uses the reformer, cadillac, wunda chair, rollers, and balls for her clients today. There will be an open Q&A at the end of this workshop.
Prerequisite: Open to all clients and instructors

Mat Class Challenge: Foam Roller 101 with Stephanie West
A great way to challenge your clients (especially the more intermediate and advanced clients) the unstable surface of the roller makes even the most basic Pilates exercise challenging, calling upon the deep core muscles to stabilize the body on the moving surface of the roller. Additionally, the roller can help in learning balance, improving posture, building strength, and relieving tension.
Prerequisite: Open to all clients and instructors

Art of Touch and Spotting with Jordana Herman
This workshop will be taught in two parts. First, we will take a look at the classical exercises and we will practice touch which is "hands on"; how energy is transferred when touching someone, and why present time consciousness is key. Second, we will explore spotting which is "eyes on", where and how to place yourself in the room and in relation to the client when utilizing touch. Then, we will put it all together and discover how oppositional touch, coupled with appropriate placement in the room, will deepen your skills as a teacher.
Prerequisite: Mat and/or apparatus teaching experience

Buckle up; we are going to move on the Tower. Experience a non-stop-class incorporating classical Pilates Mat and Tower exercises, ideas and sweat galore.

Anatomy of the Cervical and Upper Thoracic Spine with Stephanie West
Deepen your knowledge of anatomy with this specialized workshop that will give an in depth review of the anatomy and function of the cervical spine. Common cervical spine conditions and their treatments will be discussed.
Prerequisite: Open to all clients and instructors

Advanced Tower System with Lesly Levy
Let's hang like a Monkey. Let's build Towers. Let's drive like mad truckers! Come to this workshop and devise a Tower class/session using Intermediate and Advanced material that is both traditional and fun! You will not only review/learn the exercises but also apply cues to deepen the movement, as well as learn/review the specific teaching format best suited for this class.
Prerequisite: Intermediate Tower System

How to Format a One Hour Wunda Chair Session with Stephanie West
During this workshop you will learn the methodology behind creating a full session on the Wunda Chair. This workout is suitable for advanced clients only. Come prepared to move! PMA: 2 CEC
Prerequisite: Instructors and clients with beginner/intermediate Wunda Chair experience

Time: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Anatomy of the Lumbar Spine and Pelvis with Lesly Levy
During this workshop we will delve into the primary powerhouse. We will discuss the anatomy and kinesiology of the pelvis and the lower back, common conditions related to these bones and the muscles attached to them and how Pilates can help re-align and therefore rid our students of compensatory issues.
Prerequisite: Open to all clients and instructors

How To Teach a Client with Osteoporosis with Jordana Herman
Teaching a client who has Osteoporosis presents so many challenges. What can they do? What shouldn't they do? Which exercises are supportive and which exercises should be avoided? In this workshop you will learn how to create and develop a simple workout that makes sense and can evolve as the client builds strength and skills. We will discuss what osteoporosis is and what movements are contraindicated so you can safely teach and advance your clients. The exercises taught in this workshop can easily be adopted for special case clients who need a modified workout or for healthy elderly clients.
Prerequisite: Open to instructors and clients with intermediate apparatus experience

Super Advanced and Archival Reformer Syllabus with Lesly Levy
We all know that there are more than the advanced level exercises that we practice and teach. We never get to see, let alone practice what is "next." What else is there? The super advanced level exercises! We will be looking at the next steps for many reformer exercises, advanced variations, and some archival finds.
Prerequisite: Intermediate level teaching experience on the reformer

Challenge and Support: How to Teach an Open Level Mat Class with Stephanie West
In this workshop we will explore the teaching tools and teaching formulas best utilized when teaching an Open Level Mat Class. Come prepared to teach, move and ask questions!

Arm Chair Basics with Lesly Levy
The Baby Chair, also known as the Arm Chair can pack a powerful punch. Don't let the name deceive you! In this workshop you'll learn some of the basic exercises of this underused and less familiar apparatus. This workshop will have you feeling your secondary powerhouse and opposition in no time!

About Pilates Elder, Mary Bowen

In 1959, at 29, Mary Bowen began to learn the Pilates Method. She was in New York City as an actress, comedienne, and musical comedy performer with a recurring back problem. She saw an article in a newspaper with a man standing with his bare barrel of a chest, bare legs, swimming trunks and a white mane of hair. Joe was an intriguing sight – a human lion! In the short article he said “I base my method on the baby and the cat!” She had never had a baby or a cat, but she took it upon herself to find Joseph Pilates! That was the beginning of a life “root.”

Mary's back improved after only two lessons with Joe. Since walking into Joe and Clara’s studio fifty years ago, she has taken one to two lessons every week for all those years. Her New York City Pilates teachers have been: 6 and a half years twice a week with Joe, Clara and Hanna, 7 years with Bob Seed, 7 years at Romana Krysanowska’s, 7 years with Kathy Grant, 7 years with Bruce King and Jean Claude West concurrently, and since 1995 with Christine Wright.

The time and expense of lessons over the years has insured the deepening of her Pilates work. She recommends that all Pilates teachers should find someone excellent to watch over and guide their own Pilates practice. This can be pivotal to the development of oneself and one’s teaching. (Source)

About Jordana Herman

A lifelong health and fitness devotee, Jordana was looking for a smarter way to stay in shape after the birth of her son in 2001. She wanted something that not only made her look good, but feel good too. She tried Pilates and was hooked. It was the perfect combination of strengthening, stretching, connecting the mind and the body. Pilates made her feel healthier and stronger than ever - it was like finding the fountain of youth. She was so inspired she decided to make a major life change - she closed her health food store to pursue a career in Pilates. Studying with Master Teachers Susan Moran and Bob Liekens of Power Pilates in New York City, and Senior Teacher Juliet Harvey in Beacon, NY only left her wanting more. In 2010 she became a certified Teacher Trainer. She's always excited to share the joy of teaching and guide apprentices as they hone their craft.

"Teaching fits perfectly into my busy life as a full-time Mom," Jordana says. "There's nothing else I'd rather do than teach Pilates".

Enjoying the good life in Beacon, NY and pregnant with her second child, she has no intention of slowing down. She plans to continue sharing her passion for Pilates and remain a student always.

She holds a B.A. in English Literature from New York University.

About Lesly Levy

Lesly Levy, PMA_CPT, former owner of Mindful Moves Pilates Center in Mt Kisco, NY, Director of Pilates for Apogee in Westchester and General Manager of and Senior Instructor at Power Pilates in Midtown is a Senior Teacher Trainer for Power Pilates, VBARRE Teacher Trainer as well as on the Power Pilates Curriculum Committee. Lesly has been a professionally instructing in the fitness field for 24+ years and teaching Pilates for 17 years. She has written numerous Pilates workshops, co-authored Pilates manuals with Power Pilates for NYSC, starred in over a dozen Pilates Videos, traveled both within the US as well as internationally to teach Pilates Training Courses as well as presented at both ECA and PMA Annual Conferences. Lesly has also been a regular presenter at Power Pilates Continuing Education Conferences and a Teacher Trainer since 2004.

About Stephanie West

Stephanie West (Iervoline) started practicing Pilates in 2002 after a car accident left her with a broken pelvis and back. After 11 months of physical therapy, she was out of pain, but had limited strength and range of motion. Kimberly Karpanty, a Pilates Instructor with Core Dynamics© and dance professor suggested Pilates as a way to transition back into dancing full time. Pilates was the only form of rehabilitation that worked her range of motion and challenged her strength. She got back to dancing stronger than ever before. Stephanie graduated from Kent State University (Ohio) with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography. Stephanie then went on to study dancer injuries and movement analysis at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (NYC) and is a Certified Movement Analyst.

Stephanie has a passion for teaching Pilates, and her strengths include identifying a clients' strengths so that together they can "work what works." Utilizing the skill set Stephanie has acquired through her training at Power Pilates and many years of movement experience, she knows that "Movement Heals" and that a proactive and positive approach is what will make change occur. By working at Power Pilates, Stephanie is continuing to sharpen the teaching tools that make her such an approachable instructor.
