(Past Event) Basic Pilates Seminar at Clasique Acupuncture & Pilates Studio

Basic Pilates Seminar at Clasique Acupuncture & Pilates Studio

The Basic System is the foundation for the classical Pilates work. Understanding and execution of the Basic System exercises is essential for all clients and instructors.

Here we learn to master and embody the Pilates principles: centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow. These principles are present in all of the Pilates exercises on all of the apparatus. In the Basic System we also study many of the foundations of movement… developing a flexible spine, finding opposition in the body, learning how to align the frame of the body, and of course understanding the powerhouse and how to scoop.

Studying the foundational material in the Basic Seminar with Teacher Trainer Brooke Tyler will help you in your individual Pilates workout, aid you in understanding how the Pilates work applies to every sport and everyday life, and will improve your teaching ability if you are already instructing.

Schedule

Friday, September 16th, 2016

Time: 10:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Foundations Of Movement & Basic Reformer
Through the exercises on the reformer, we will practice the four Foundations of Movement which are essential and fundamental to a quality classical Pilates practice: engage the powerhouse, develop the frame of the body, work toward a flexible spine, and find opposition in every movement. The basics on the reformer are the heart and soul of the method. We will master the material and embody the movements.

Saturday, September 17th, 2016

Time: 10:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Basic Mat Work, Chair Work, & The Principals Of Pilates
Learn the nuances of the six key principles of the Pilates method: centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, flow. Understand how these apply to all Pilates movements as we study the basic mat work.

In the morning we will master the stomach series on the mat, so that Pilates becomes a part of your daily routine! (will include magic circle and arm weights work!)

In the afternoon we shift our focus to the High Chair and the Wunda Chair - both challenging and empowering apparatus. Focus on the fundamentals of the movements and embodying the principles.

Sunday, September 18th, 2016

Time: 9:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Basic Cadillac, Pre-Pilates, & Footwork
This morning we focus on the spring work of the Cadillac and Wall Unit apparatus - find strength and stretch simultaneously in the body. Pre-Pilates offers tools for teaching clients with injuries, joint replacements, pain, spine limitations, and clients both very young and not so young.

In the afternoon we move to footwork - it all begins in the feet! The Foot Corrector and Toe Corrector will be taught, along with standing balance work, which applies to everyone working on improving posture, alignment, eliminating pain, becoming a more efficient athlete, and building strength in the feet, knees, hips, and powerhouse of course.
