STUDIO

In 1990 Mari opened her first studio in West Hollywood, California and in 1998 Mari opened her second studio in a wonderful location in Santa Monica, California. She takes great pride in having two studios outfitted with Gratz because it makes her feel closer to the work.

PEOPLE

In the beginning, who knew I would be so drawn to the Pilates technique? I certainly did not even consider fitness during my 20 year dance career and a dancer doesn't think about anything else but dance. As I approach 40 I began to be concerned about what I was going to do with the second half of my life. My best friend Sarita Allen was dancing with the Alvin Ailey Company at the time and she suggested I find a place with this particular (Gratz) equipment and learn and teach Pilates. Sarita had been impressed by the work. Mr. Ailey had sent her to Kathy Grant to help an injury. She fell in love with Kathy and her teaching. This was 1987, after I had finished dancing with Michael Jackson in Smooth Criminal. Finding a Pilates Studio in Los Angeles in the 80's was not an easy task. I was not sure what I was even looking for. I finally found a woman who had equipment and was running a small business out of a hotel. I learned what this particular studio know, but I also though something was missing. In 1990, I opened my first studio in Los Angeles. In my 23 years of business I have filmed six informationals and fifty DVDs. I have been on various TV shows, worked with many celebrities, and also wrote two books. I enjoy being in front of the camera and I am always looking for opportunities to do so. I enjoy being in front of the camera and I am always looking for opportunities to do so. I enjoy working with clients of course but I love working with teachers and bening able to share information with such talented instructors from all over the world. I am a teacher trainer for Romana's Pilates and I am a true believer in the Gratz equipment and in the work as taught to me by Romana. 

EQUIPMENT

In 1993 I met Romana Kryzanowska. She is an inspirational and knowledgeable teacher!! Her teaching changed my life. It was an epiphany. i went to New York to finish my certification and that was my first experience with the Gratz equipment. It was remarkable the difference I felt in my own body with the Gratz equipment. I had my studio equipped with different equipment and could not afford to make a change. I was waiting for the day when I could change over to Gratz. When that time came in 2002, I was thrilled to place my first order and give my clients the same great workout on the Gratz equipment that I had experienced. It fit the work as I learned from Romana Kryzanowska and the results were profound.
