Our New York City custom fabrication shop has been in business since 1929, crafting not only Joseph Pilates’ unique design, but also museum-quality furniture, architectural metal, and sculpture for many of the word’s greatest designers.

Over a half century ago, our company’s patriarch Frank Gratz applied his engineering and metalwork expertise while working with Joseph Pilates. Frank’s son Donald continued this commitment to preserving the integrity of their apparatus and in the late 1960’s collaborated with Romana Kryzanowska as she carried on the Pilates legacy. Thanks to these relationships, Gratz has maintained a fidelity to Pilates’ original vision by fabricating apparatus with unerring craftsmanship and exacting specifications.

While Gratz is located in New York City, our equipment can be found in studios worldwide.
