Quality, Commitment, Experience

These are the core values we bring to any student who enrolls in our Instructor Training Program (“ITP”). ALL Romana’s Pilates instructor trainers are handpicked, guided and directly mentored by Level I Instructors’ Sari Mejia Santo, Juanita Lopez and Cynthia Lochard. Such individuals were selected to participate solely on Romana, Sari or Juanita’s long-term observations of their experience, dedication and prowess as Romana’s Pilates instructors. These efforts were undertaken in order to offer you the highest quality instructor training program in the industry and to prepare you for a lifetime of teaching Pilates. Romana’s Pilates instructor trainers will teach you much more than just the mat; every student must successfully pass performance assessments that cover all the key pieces of Pilates equipment!

Instructor Training Program (ITP)

ITP students will be taught using techniques that are as close to the original teaching as is available anywhere in the world. It is the system that is taught in the tradition of the Romana’s Pilates method. The ITP features hands-on instruction, with students working side-by-side with instructor trainers. To begin the program, students must demonstrate proficiency at the intermediate level on all key pieces of Pilates equipment and apparatus. In addition, students must be able to apply the six principles of Pilates;

  • Control
  • Precision
  • Centering
  • Breath
  • Concentration
  • Flow

Upon successful completion of the ITP, you’ll receive a certificate of achievement.

Continuing Education

You can do all those things and more when you spend a day with Sari Mejia Santo, Juanita Lopez or Cynthia Lochard attending our Continuing Education program. Like any other profession, it’s imperative you keep your skills current and continuously network with your peers. That’s why Romana’s Pilates certified instructors complete at least one CPE seminar each year to maintain their instructor certification. Truth be told, many of our instructors attend two or more seminars a year.

Romana’s Pilates currently maintains a wait list for CPE seminars. It is important to note that our wait list gives priority to instructors who are currently rated as a Level I, II, III, IV, V+ or V instructor by Romana’s Pilates. If you have not received an instructor skill rating from Romana’s Pilates and possess an interest in scheduling an initial assessment, please contact us directly.

About Romana's Pilates

Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, FL USA – Romana’s Pilates operates a global Pilates instructor network and instructor training program that works as a community to assure clients and instructor trainees are provided the most experienced, committed trainers available.

Romana’s Pilates is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, play and work. You will develop muscular power with corresponding endurance, ability to perform arduous duties, to play strenuous games, to walk, run or travel for long distances without undue body fatigue or mental strain.

At Romana’s Pilates, the instructor will personalize a workout tailored to the individual’s needs and abilities, improving natural rhythm and coordination to feel and look one’s best. Regardless of age, gender or physical limitations, Pilates practioneers feel the difference in how they walk, play, work and, most importantly, how they live.

Through Romana’s Pilates you first purposefully acquire complete control of your own body and then, through proper repetition of its exercises, you gradually and progressively acquire that natural rhythm and coordination associated with all your mental and subconscious activities.

The Team

Romana kryzanowska

True Protégé of Joseph Pilates

Romana was introduced to Joseph Pilates in 1941, when her mentor George Balanchine introduced her because of an ankle injury.  She quickly found the amazing benefit, noticing not only the improvement in her ankle, but the overall improvement of her dancing. Her love and commitment was evident early and she continued her commitment to Joseph and Clare Pilates until July 1944, when she got married and went to live in Peru until 1958...

Sari mejia santo

Grandmaster Instructor Trainer (Level I)

Next to her mother Romana, she is the most acclaimed Pilates instructor of true Pilates. Sari also worked directly with Joe and Clara Pilates. When Sari was nine years old, she got rheumatic fever that caused many physical complications and ultimately led her into a plaster cast for 7-9 months. Even though the family was still in Peru, Romana was able to help her child rebuild her strength and get even stronger than ever...

Daria pace

Senior Instructor Trainer (Level II), Principal Officer for Romana’s Pilates

Daria started taking ballet and movement class with her grandma, (Romana Kryzanowska) when she was three years old along with several friends. I didn’t have any idea that my grandma was giving us exercise because it was fun! She had no idea how influential and important her grandma and mother were in the Pilates world, although she knew all about Uncle Joe and Clara. Her mother Sari and her brother Paul were called “Pilates babies” by Joe himself. They both did Pilates from a very young age as well...
